Springhill VAD Hospital


Springhill VAD Hospital was based in the Domestic Economy College buildings on College Road, Bromley.

Opened in November 1915 with 43 beds. The hospital cared for 750 cases throughout the First World War.


Run by Kent 174 VAD. The hospital’s commandant was Miss D. Tweedy who was awarded an MBE in January 1919 as recognition for her dedication.
