Military service
Thomas Tolson began the war as a Private in the 2nd battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders, later being promoted to a Corporal.
Corporal Tolson’s medal card records him first serving in a theatre of war on the 23rd August 1914. This is the same date that the 2nd battalion landed at Boulogne having previously been mobilised at the beginning of the war to north Yorkshire with a view to defending against the possibility of a German landing.
Medals
Corporal Tolson was awarded the 1914 star and the Victory Medal.
