Madge Boosey
Madge Boosey was born in 1889 in Bromley. She was 25 when the First World War broke out.
Before the war
In the 1911 census, Madge was living at home with her parents at The Cedars in Bromley Common. Her siblings were away at school. Her father, Arthur Boosey, worked as a publisher.
During the First World War
During the First World War Madge was the Commandant at Kent 50 VAD (Bromley Common) based at Oakley Hospital.
Family
Madge’s younger sister, Enid Boosey was also a nurse with Kent 50 VAD. Their brother Noel Boosey served in the military and died of wounds in France in 1915 aged 23. Another brother, Leslie, also served in the military during the First World War.
Marriage
Madge married Jack Hopton, a medical parctioner, in 1934 in Bromley.
Death
Madge died aged 59 in 1949 in Hayes.
